Forex Market Hours

You may have heard the forex market is open 24 hours a day, five days a week. However, that’s not strictly true. All the big banks take a few minutes to break between the New York close and the Sydney open. During this period, most major players in the forex market stop trading which means liquidity is depleted from the market and spreads become very wide. During this time, the forex market becomes a very inhospitable place to trade, so we also take some downtime and prevent our clients from being exposed to the trading conditions we try so hard to prevent.

Commodities, Indices & Stocks Trading Hours

Unlike the forex market, which is decentralised and traded over the counter, many other financial instruments are traded on exchanges. Therefore, these products may only be traded during certain times of the day. For example, stocks listed on NASDAQ may only be traded between 14:30 and 21:00, the hours when the exchange operates. However, the NASDAQ index is available to trade for almost 23-hours per day. Check the trading time table to ensure you know when you can and can’t trade a certain market.
